Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch a new digital payment system e-RUPI at 4.30 pm, 02 August 2021. E-RUPI is being started to promote digital payments and to take full advantage of government schemes to the needy. 

The Modi government, which has taken several important steps to promote the digital payment system in the country, is now going to bring electronic vouchers through e-RUPI, which will increase the transactions in cashless and contactless.

This digital payment system has been prepared by the National Payment Corporation of India. It has been developed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Authority, Department of Financial Services.


What is e-RUPI Digital Payment?

After all, what is e-RUPI? Now understand this. A few years ago, paper currency or coins were used for transactions. Anyone could buy anything with cash and could give cash to someone else. 

Then came the era of cards. Money could be transferred to anyone via credit or debit card. Now payments are made easily through apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Bharat Pay, and Google Pay.

But e-RUPI is different from all these. The e-RUPI will be like a voucher. In this, a fixed amount will be issued, which can be spent only for a specific purpose. The money given in any government scheme can be spent to take advantage of the same scheme. 

For instance, if you have an a e-RUPI voucher for Covid-19 vaccine, then it has to be redeemed for vaccines only.

How Will Work e-RUPI?

E-RUPI will be such a system in which there will be no intermediate between the beneficiary of any scheme and the service provider, because the voucher will be sent directly to the beneficiary's mobile from the Indian government.
 
1. Cashless and contactless digital payment method.

2. E-voucher will be sent to the beneficiary's mobile.

3. E-voucher based on QR code or SMS string.

4. No need for card, digital payment app for payment.

5. Payment will be made to the service provider only after the transaction is completed.

6. E-Rupee is prepaid amount, due to which delay in payment is not possible.

7. The payment is certain to be done through e-rupee without any medium.
